Modernizing Police Services: Advocating for Reform in Iran and Egypt
In countries like Iran and Egypt, outdated policing practices and unchecked law enforcement powers have led to systemic abuses, including arbitrary arrests and gender-based violence.
Our Actions
JPTi submitted reports to the UN Committee Against Torture (CAT) and other international mechanisms, calling for reforms in police practices to align with international human rights standards. We emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in law enforcement.
Resolution
Our advocacy contributed to international pressure on these countries to consider police reform measures, encouraging dialogues on ratifying key human rights conventions like the Convention Against Torture.
