Justice pour Tous Internationale (JPTi), Public Organization “Public Advocacy”, and VSI “Zmogaus teisiu apsauga” welcome the Trump administration’s decision to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This landmark decision, championed by Elon Musk and President Donald Trump, is a decisive step in shutting down an organization that has long operated as a cover for intelligence activities, political interference, and the suppression of religious freedoms under the guise of democracy promotion.
For years, USAID masqueraded as a humanitarian agency while allegedly channeling funds into intelligence operations. Nowhere has this been clearer than in Ukraine and Estonia, where USAID-backed initiatives have coincided with government-led crackdowns on religious institutions:
Ukraine: Under the pretext of “democracy aid,” government raids on Orthodox churches have escalated—clergy detained, churches seized, and believers harassed—a blatant violation of religious freedom.
Estonia: Under the guise of national security, Estonia’s government has introduced restrictive laws targeting Orthodox Christians affiliated with the Moscow Patriarchate, effectively criminalizing religious affiliation based on political narratives.
We have extensively documented these violations, raising serious concerns about USAID’s indirect complicity in enabling state-backed religious persecution. These revelations align with Elon Musk’s assertion that USAID had become a “criminal organization” and a “viper’s nest of radical-left Marxists who hate America.”

Trump’s Bold Stand for Religious Liberty
President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to defending religious freedoms, announcing the creation of:
A Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty
A Faith Office in the White House
A Step Toward Transparent & Accountable Governance
We stand firmly in support of these actions. The dismantling of USAID is not a loss for humanitarian work—it is a victory for transparency, accountability, and the protection of fundamental freedoms, paving the way for open and accountable governance.
We urge the international community to reassess the role of foreign aid organizations in shaping political and religious freedoms worldwide. The misuse of taxpayer funds to facilitate religious persecution must come to an end.
