JPTI FEATURED IN TRIBUNA.EE: THE FUTURE OF ESTONIA’S CHANCELLOR OF JUSTICE UNDER REVIEW

JPTi is pleased to share that our latest interview with Sharof Azizov has been published by Tribuna.ee. The discussion focuses on the upcoming UN Subcommittee on Accreditation (GANHRI) review, scheduled to take place from March 13 to 21, 2025, where the possible downgrading of Estonia’s Chancellor of Justice from "A" to "B" status will be assessed.

🔎 In this interview, Mr. Azizov raises serious concerns regarding the effectiveness and independence of Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise, particularly her lack of intervention in cases of politically motivated prosecutions, discrimination against minorities, and restrictions on religious freedoms. Despite holding an international accreditation, her inaction in critical human rights cases calls into question whether the Chancellor of Justice is truly fulfilling the mandate of an independent human rights institution.

JPTi remains committed to ensuring accountability, protecting fundamental rights, and strengthening the independence of national human rights institutions in line with international standards.

We invite our community to read the full interview on Tribuna.ee and join the conversation about the state of human rights and the rule of law in Estonia.
